A creative holiday idea for children. Look for things around the house with words on. You'll be surprised what can make a poem! I made poems from book titles, words on toiletries, greetings cards, games, and even cereal boxes! Can you think of something that I haven't?

A new list poem. Annoyances, pet peeves, things that make you go "Grrr!". An easy one for children to have a go at - rhyme not required!
Grrr!
Toe fluff
cat hair
hiccups
flies
wasps
raspberry jam.
Standing on slugs
stuck-Pooh-sticks
fingernail clippings
my brother Sam.
Cabbage
haircuts
dog poo
burnt toast
too-tight-shoes.
All these things make me go "Grrr!",
do they annoy you, too?

I've got habits. Writing habits. Most of the time, they mean that I get something written every day, whether it's a whole poem, or ideas scribbled down, or tapped into my phone. But some days, ideas are hard to come by, and there's just no flow. So, I'm trying to shake things up a little.
I'm not able to use the writing shed as much as I'd like, and when I can't, I sit in the same spot at the same table, with the same view, and hope for inspiration. It can get very samey. Today: a different table, a different view, and even other humans!
So simple, but it worked. A re-draft, two new poems, and lots of tea! So, try shaking things up, and happy writing!
