Today's poem uses the words 'Noël' and 'Holly', from P7 at OLA Primary School. Thank you!

For Christmas I’d Like a New Name

I’d love to have a Christmas name

like Noël or Eve or Holly

I’d like to be called Robin

or Sparkle, that’s quite jolly

I could be called December, or Melchior, or Mary

my name could be Sir Frankincense, or Twinkle (Christmas Fairy)

or Caspar, maybe Balthazar

or Snowflake, or even Mince Pie

but it was never going to happen –

my birthday’s in July!

Just Because I Look Like Santa, it Doesn’t Mean I’m Fun

Cover me in holly

Wheel me on a trolley

Feed me an ice lolly

Poke me with a brolly

Tell me I’m a wally

Plait my hair just like a dolly

BUT

Never ever ever ever ever call me

JOLLY!

Today's poem is thanks to Class 3/4 AP and their suggestion, 'Special Night'. Thank you!

A Special Night

It happened on a special night

a star which shone so very bright

the land so dark, the moon so high

the only star up in the sky

led them to a wondrous sight

it happened on a special night.

It happened on a special night

a miracle to make things right

a baby born whose name was Jesus

sent to earth, his job to save us

to bring us peace and joy and light

it happened on a special night.
