Midnight Snow

Swirl around whirl around

whispering white

in the snow globe

in the snow globe

in the middle of the night

Race about chase about

flakes sparkle bright

in the snow globe

in the snow globe

in the middle of the night

Drift along swift-along

precious and light

in the snow globe

in the snow globe

in the middle of the night

Swooping and looping

a beautiful sight...

who shook the snow globe

in the middle of the night?

I Spy Christmas Pie

Frederick Fortescue Frodberry Fry

baked all of Christmas Day into a pie

there was turkey and stuffing and chocolate and cake

there was pudding and custard and salmon and steak

there were crackers and ribbons, sleighbells, and stars

there was tinsel and holly and glitter from jars

there were baubles and crackers and slices of ham

there was Christmas TV and some weird homemade jam.

The Christmas Day pie filled us up, fit to bust

with all of the trimmings stuffed under its crust

and when we were groaning, each with a full belly

he called “Who’s for lashings of Boxing Day Jelly?”

Today's poem was inspired by the word 'Jesus', suggested by pupils of Marown School, Isle of Man. Thank you!

Not That Doll Again (a Nativity Conundrum)

It won't be Carter (he often wheezes)

It won't be Lucy (she gets the sneezes)

It won't be Romy (she does as she pleases)

So, who will play the Baby Jesus?

It won't be Tom (he always freezes)

It won't be Marat (he dislikes breezes)

It won't be Eve ('til that rash eases)

So, WHO will play the Baby Jesus?!
